LA Fitness has three membership plans, and the difference between them comes down entirely to how many locations your barcode opens.
Besides this, everything like the equipment, the classes, the pool, and the courts is the same across all three tiers.
If pick the wrong plan, and you’ll either pay for access even for things you won’t use, or you will get turned away at a club 20 minutes from your house.
What are the three LA Fitness Plans
| Plan | Monthly (starting) | Access | Guests Included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Club | $29.99 | One home club only | No |
| Multi-Club (Classic) | $39.99 | All clubs in your state of enrollment, Esporta, and City Sports | No |
| Nationwide (Premier) | $49.99 | Every US and Canada location, Esporta, and City Sports | One guest per visit |
These are starting prices, but your specific club may also quote a different price depending on location and current promotions.
Plus, the annual fee of $59 applies to every plan and is billed separately, and they’re not included in the monthly rate.
Single Club ($29.99)

In the “Single club,” you have to pick one LA Fitness location as your home club when you sign up, and your membership will only work there.
And if you go to a different location across town, your barcode won’t scan.
That one club will give you full access to everything it has: weights, cardio equipment, group fitness classes, a pool if the location has one, courts, locker rooms, and a sauna.
No amenities are stripped out on this plan, but the only difference from higher tiers is geographic.
Besides this, you can pay $10 monthly; compared to Multi Club, you’ll save up to $120 a year.
So I would recommend you if you work out at the same location and have no reason to go elsewhere.
Also, a single club doesn’t include guest privileges. When you want to bring someone with you, like your friend or someone else, either they’ll pay a $20 day fee at the front desk, or you’ll need to upgrade your plan.
Multi-Club ($39.99)

Go for the Multi Club plan when your location isn’t fixed. At $39.99, your barcode will work at every LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness, and City Sports Club in your state of enrollment.
But yes, MultiClub is not nationwide access; if you sign up at a club in New Jersey but regularly visit family in Pennsylvania, those Pennsylvania clubs are not included in your plan.
You’ll be paying for in-state flexibility, not cross-country freedom.
What Multi Club does well: If you have a gym near home and another near work, or you want the flexibility to use any of several clubs in your city without being locked to one, go with this plan.
It also opens Signature Club locations within your state, which Single Club does not.
However, Multi Club also doesn’t include guest privileges either; you’d have to pay the $20 day fee.
Nationwide ($49.99)

Nationwide removes all geographic restrictions; you can scan your barcode at every participating LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness, and City Sports Club across the United States and Canada, regardless of what state or city you signed up in.
This plan also includes one guest per visit at no additional charge, which is the biggest from the other two La Fitness plans.
But Nationwide makes sense if you travel for work, split time between two cities, commute long distances, and might use a gym near the office some days and near home on others, or you want to never think about whether a specific club is in your access tier.
If your gym routine stays within one state and you never travel with gym access in mind, the extra $10 over Multi Club is just overhead.
What Every Plan Includes

All three plans give you the same access to amenities at the clubs you can visit. Here is what every LA Fitness membership includes:
- Full cardio equipment floor (treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, rowing machines, bikes)
- Complete weight and resistance training area, including free weights, cables, and machines
- All group fitness classes on the standard schedule: yoga, Zumba, cycling, HIIT, aqua classes, and more
- Swimming pool and whirlpool at locations that have them
- Basketball, racquetball, and volleyball courts
- Steam room and sauna at select locations
- Locker rooms and showers
Note: Amenities vary by club, not by plan.
What No Plan Includes

Several services cost extra regardless of which plan you choose or how much you pay monthly.
Specialty studios: Pilates by LA Fitness, The Glute Room, and Studio Group Training sessions are separate paid programs at most locations. They’re not part of any standard membership.
Personal training: No plan includes personal training; sessions are priced individually. You’ll have to pay $50 to $100 per session depending on the trainer and package. I’ve covered more in the LA Fitness Personal Training Cost guide.
Kids Klub childcare: Available at select clubs and will cost around $10 to $15 per month per child. It’s an optional add-on, not part of any membership tier.
Guest access on lower plans: As I mentioned earlier, Single Club and Multi Club do not include guest privileges. So the guests will have to pay $20 per visit unless you upgrade to Nationwide or add guest privileges.
Signature Clubs: Who Needs to Know About This
LA Fitness operates a subset of its locations as Signature Clubs; these are premium facilities with upgraded equipment, more spacious layouts, enhanced locker rooms, and additional amenities not found at standard clubs.
To access a Signature Club, you need at least a Multi Club membership.
You can’t use Single Club unless they specifically signed up at a Signature Club as their home location.
If there’s a Signature Club near you and you want to use it, confirm this before signing up.
What You Pay in Year One When You Purchase a La Fitness Plan
The monthly rate is only one of three charges; your first-year total depends on all three.
| Plan | Monthly x 12 | Annual Fee | Initiation Fee | First Year Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single Club, initiation waived | $359.88 | $59 | $0 | $418.88 |
| Single Club, $99 initiation | $359.88 | $59 | $99 | $518.88 |
| Multi-club, initiation waived | $479.88 | $59 | $0 | $538.88 |
| Multi-Club, $99 initiation | $479.88 | $59 | $99 | $638.88 |
| Nationwide, initiation waived | $599.88 | $59 | $0 | $658.88 |
| Nationwide, $99 initiation | $599.88 | $59 | $99 | $758.88 |
There are a couple of things you’ve to keep in mind: first, the initiation fee is the single biggest swing in year one, and it’s negotiable.
So whether it’ll be $0 or $99 depends on when you join and what you ask for; you can see my LA Fitness Membership Deals and Discounts guide.
Second, some clubs collect both first and last month’s dues at enrollment, not just the initiation fee.
That means your day-one payment can be well above what the monthly price implies.
So, ask the representative to itemize what you’re paying at signup before you hand over payment information.
Third, the initiation fee doesn’t apply once; the annual fee of $59 comes back every year, billed around 14 days after you enroll, then annually from that date.
Which Plan Fits Your Situation
- Single Club is the best choice if you go to one specific LA Fitness, that location is convenient for how you live, and cross-town or cross-state flexibility doesn’t matter to you.
- Multi Club is right. If you ever want to use a different LA Fitness in your city or state, work out near the office some days and near home on others, or want access to Esporta or Signature Club locations in your area, this plan handles it.
- Nationwide makes sense when you travel regularly and want gym access on the road, or when bringing a guest matters to you. Besides, the guest privilege can justify the extra $10 over Multi Club if you have a workout partner who isn’t a member.
If you’re not sure and confused between Multi Club and Nationwide, then ask yourself: do you ever use gyms in multiple states or bring someone with you regularly? If yes to either, Nationwide, but if not “No” to both, just go for Multi Club membership.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Multi Club provide you with access to every LA Fitness location?
No, Multi Club covers all LA Fitness, Esporta, and City Sports Club locations in your state of enrollment, not the entire country.
If you sign up in California, your Multi Club plan won’t work at a club in Nevada; you’ll need Nationwide for this.
Which LA Fitness plan includes a guest?
Only the Nationwide plan includes one guest per visit as a standard benefit.
Single Club and Multi Club do not include guest privileges.
If you’re on either of those plans and want to bring someone, your guest will have to pay a $20 day fee.
Is the $14.99 LA Fitness membership still available?
Not as a standard current plan; that price point was associated with older promotions and some third-party platform arrangements.
But the standard starting price in 2026 is $29.99 for Single Club.
If you see $14.99 advertised somewhere, verify directly with your local club before acting on it, because it’s not a price LA Fitness currently publishes across its locations.
Can I upgrade from Single Club to Multi Club after I join?
Yes, you can request an upgrade at your home club, and the new monthly rate applies from your next billing cycle.
Ask about any initiation fee implications when you do it.
Does the Nationwide plan work in Canada?
Yes, LA Fitness operates locations in Canada, and the Nationwide plan covers them.
Do group fitness classes cost extra on any plan?
No, all three plans include the full group fitness class schedule at no additional charge.
What costs extra are specialty studio programs like Pilates by LA Fitness, The Glute Room, and Studio Group Training sessions.
Those are separate paid offerings and not part of standard membership on any tier.
Can I go to LA Fitness more than once in the same day?
LA Fitness doesn’t publish a restriction on same-day return visits for members.
Your barcode logs each entry, but there’s no documented policy blocking a second visit on the same day.
Also, policies can vary by club, so you can confirm that with your specific location.
